Preventative Care

At our preventative care visits, we will go over the annual recommendations for your pet including vaccinations and testing (blood work, heartworm test, and intestinal parasite test). We will also discuss options for heartworm, flea, and tick prevention and help you decide what works best for your pet and your lifestyle. We can address any behavior or diet issues your pet may be experiencing.

Diagnostic Testing

With our in-house laboratory the veterinarians are able to quickly diagnose a few conditions like ear infections, urinary tract infections or diabetes. We collect samples including blood, ear swabs, fecal or urine to help us determine a proper diagnosis. In some cases we may send samples off to our reference laboratory if more testing is required.

We have in clinic radiographs and ultrasound to get answers about your pet’s health and illness as quickly as possible.

Alternative therapies

We offer several alternative therapies including acupuncture, laser therapy, and spinal manipulation. These therapies work great with traditional therapies and medications or can be used alone if traditional therapies are not an option for your pet or if your pet is not responding well.

  • Acupuncture

Clinical trials indicate that acupuncture therapy can be effective in the following conditions :

    · Musculoskeletal problems: muscle soreness, back pain, osteoarthritis, and degenerative joint disease.

    · Neurological disorders: seizures, intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), laryngeal hemiplegia, and facial and radial nerve paralysis.

Gastrointestinal disorders: Diarrhea, gastric ulcers, colic, vomiting, constipation, and impactions.

    · Other chronic conditions: anhidrosis, heaves, asthma, cough, uveitis, renal failure, chronic liver disease, behavioral problems, infertility, Cushing's disease, hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, geriatric weakness, and skin problems.

    · Quality of life, maintenance and enhancement, and hospice care.

  • Laser therapy

Laser Therapy is the use of specific wavelengths of light to treat painful and debilitating conditions.

    · Rapid relief of pain without the use of addictive prescription painkillers . It’s benefits include:

    · Strong anti-inflammatory effect

    · Non-surgical treatment

    · No negative side effects

    · Timely healing of sprains & strains

    · Rapid recovery of the structural integrity of injured region

    · Rapid resolution of swollen areas

    · Immediate improvement of local blood circulation

    · Rapid repair of superficial injuries, such as wounds and ulcers

  • Spinal manipulation

Veterinarians use their hands to identify areas of restriction and, once identified, a precise thrust on the immobile anatomical structures is applied (with care taken to remain within the normal range of motion of the joint). This treatment can restore normal motion of the vertebra thus removing neurological blockages. When the nerves can efficiently communicate with all the structures in your animals’ bodies, they will begin to heal. Pain diminishes and mobility is restored, allowing the body to perform at its optimum potential. Animals accept this treatment well and resolution of the restriction often results in immediate relief from pain. Most animals enjoy their treatment.

Spinal manipulation can be used to treat animals with painful necks or backs. It can help older, stiff animals with chronic lameness issues that develop back problems from moving incorrectly. It may be helpful in dogs with intervertebral disc disease by relieving some of the pressure on the disc. Animals with a vague, hard to diagnose lameness or that just seem “off” may have problems in the spine or pelvis that can be treated. Chronic musculoskeletal problems such as sacroiliac disease, hip dysplasia, luxating patellae and arthritis may benefit and some cases of urinary incontinence or lick granuloma on the legs can be helped with VSM as well.
